Far better than a pump that sells for twice the price

I have a 25' winding stream, several waterfalls, 2 ponds, 2 fountains. That means I'm no stranger to filters, pumps, weirs, fountains. I was using a pondmaster in the pond that this replaced and it was reliable but quite frankly, poorly designed. In that I was constantly replacing the pre-filter which they improved upon design-wise, there was no handle to lift it out of the pond so I stupidly grabbed it by the cord but I didn't want to reach in the pond and hope the prefilter hadn't come off again and stick my finger in the propeller...however, had I loosened the cord from the base electricution would have been a worse option.So I decided to dabble in something new. In all honesty, I didn't think this would be as good as the one I had simply because of it being less expensive.I'm pretty darn shocked now at all it does and does better.First, you no longer need a pump for the waterfall and another one for the fountain. This has enough pressure to perfectly do both. And more. the fountain this thing produced was sky high at max level but it also has a knob on the side to allow you to adjust it. So you can have a small fountain and a high speed waterfall, or a high level of both, or anything in between. There is a large knob for the waterfall on one side and a large knob for the fountain on the other to make it easy to get exactly what you want.One issue I have found with pumps is that they suck in the water through large spaces. Spaces large enough to suck in baby fish and tadpoles. This, instead of having a few large openings, has oodles of small ones to give you the same intake without killing any little creatures that make your pond so much more interesting.But it doesnt stop there. You have a choice of what kind of fountain you want or you can switch them up as the mood hits you. I did a multi-tiered spray but you can also do a bell fountain which is gorgeous (I have a bell fountain on my other pond so I wanted something different.) A bell is a perfect round ball shaped form made out of water coming from the top of the fountain. (see photos for examples of both.)It also has connections so you can easily clean it out via backwashing with your hose. Just hook up the attached connector.Even more interesting and unlike my first fountain, this has a knob to allow you to move the fountain head in any direction. Let's say, for example, your pump sits on a part of the pond that's uneven. Or on a rock that's not even. Your pump doesnt have to be perfect for your fountainhead to be vertical. You simply move the spout on the fountainhead on the ball knob to have it face however you wish.The pump is lightweight and has a handle for easy removal to and from the pond but there is no inside sponge filter needing to be cleaned.It also comes with two screws and holes for them at the bottom of the pump if you want to attach it to something like a weighted bucket in your pond.In a perfect world, the plug would be longer but that I can handle. Its the standard. Still, it doesn't reach my outlet so I have to use an outdoor extension.All attachments that connect to hoses are adjustable depending upon what size hose you choose.This was supposed to be my secondary pump. The pressure is equal to my greater pump in cost and supposedly pressure...but this one is just as good but, as far as design goes, this hits it out of the ballparkAlso, my first pump has to have a separate fountain. It only has an outlet to the waterfall weir.Oh! And there is no prefilter to fall off or repair or mess with. The actual pump sits inside an attached basketDoes far more for less. And keeps my aquatic life alive.After having to pull a huge bullfrog out of the impeller of my other pump where his head was caught, screaming so hard the entire time that the neighbors likely called the cops, because the prefilter broke yet again and all the tadpoles disappeared...My pump that this replaced wasn't broken, but it needed replacing just to save some pond life.I'm glad I did it.

Outstanding Pump

I've owned this thing for a few years now and it's the only pond pump I'd recommend. I've purchased quite a few, and plan to purchase more. They have never failed. I do maintain them by soaking them in 2 parts water to 1 part vinegar, every so often. I was able to use this pump and modify the volute for a protein skimmer for one of my coral reef aquariums, too. I have since gotten out of the hobby, but the pump just kept on churning! Highly recommended.

This is probably the best bang for your buck pond pump there is out there.Things I love about this product are: * Clear and concise installation instructions and detailed product documentation * 1500 GPH! * Only uses 100w - very energy efficient! * It's more quiet than our Tetra aquarian filter pumps. * 3 year warranty * Product design - the cage is a neat concept! * 2-way outlet valve allows you to adjust fountainhead and/or waterfall flow rates independ of eachother.Things I don't love: * The fountainhead piping they include is too short to be used in a Koi pond where you need depths of 3-4 feet. It will only telescope up maybe 2 feet.Very highly recommended. I use mine with some 1" hose and it pushes a massive amount of water - even up a 7 feet rise! I think it will push water up to 18 feet high.
