great UPS's

I have owned an Eaton (Powerware) UPS for 10 years, whose battery has finally bit the dust. I was pleased to see these offered here at Amazon. Although I am replacing the batteries on my prior one, I decided to grab a second one and upgrade a tad too (own a 1500VA model).This model boasts 2200VA with 1600 Watts (I can run my 16" fan on high for six hours on this unit!) The details I have copied/pasted below from Eatons site seem to be a lil outdated, as it IS 2200VA, NOT 1920VA. It has a 6-foot power cord and a rating of 120VAC. It also has a PURE sine wave, which can be very important for some PC owners. It is not some fake stepped sine wave at all.Customer service is great at Eaton. You get to talk to a live human in America if you need anyone from a tech or to the sales department to order batteries or to speak to the an extended warranty department.Know that this model needs a 20 amp outlet or an adapter. I bought the Conntek 1F515520 1-Foot 15-Amp to 20-Amp Power Adapter Cord NEMA 5-15P to 5-15/20R 1F515520. Works like a charm.In case you were confused by the picture above for this product, the "Tower" model (this item) is the shorter one to the right. The other taller version is their Rackmount. This tower is quite heavy at 68lb (also noted in the details below) and comes in a heavy box that adds weight. UPS (the shipping company) tore my box up good, but the UPS itself was undamaged. I guess they didn't read their own signs on the box that said "Teamwork" and "Heavy". If you are a slight person, do have help on hand to unbox and move this puppy.The fan, for the first few days, will be on constantly. After that, it will remain off unless the power goes out or the temperature inside the unit gets too hot.Unlike my last Powerware UPS, the venting goes from font to back (not from the sides to the back), so do know you cannot obstruct the space around the vents. Also, there is no longer a battery indicator level in the same deatil as before. It just indicates if it is on AC or battery mode, or if the battery is ready to die. My old one showed the various levels of juice in the battery, as indicated by lights. I liked the old LED panel, but appreciate less lights glowing in my bedroom. The LED panel still shows load levels though, faults, etc.For those with less electrical knowledge, the Output Receptacles have:(6) 5-15R and (2) 5-20R. The 5-15Rs are receptacles for your standard 3-prong grounded plugs (that 2-prongs can also fit into). The 5-20Rs are receptacles for the 20 amp plugs. They look like standard 3-prong plugs, but one of the prongs turn in a 90 degree fashion. You CAN use 2-prong or 3-prong 5-15R plugs in them, however, so you are not out two receptacles at all.
