5well made cord
By J. Smith
I have had this cord set now for about 5 years, it has held up well after being used on abrasive surfaces (rough concrete driveways, gravel and dirt). The outer jacket is very thick and tough. Always flexible even in very cold weather. Much better price from Amazon than what I could find locally for a 10 gauge cord. I am very pleased at how well it has held up.Update 03/2013: I left this cord out in the yard most of last summer, using it to power a cement mixer. I just used it yesterday, and noticed how flexible it still is, and there is no fading or signs of weather damage from being left out in the sun so long.

5This is a GOOD and Sturdy Extension Cord
By David D. Samuels
This extension cord is EXACTLY what it is advertised to be, soft, flexible, rated for a 20 amp circuit, and lighted when there is power! I use it for power to an indoor sauna almost nightly, and have never experienced the cord being hot to the touch (thereby meaning it is handling the 20 amps safely and sufficiently).

4Feature Loaded, Not Exactly Perfect...
By Andrew Sipe
Since this is my FIRST HDTV purchase and my user experiences with HD Televisions in the past have been limited, I can't say that I'm an expert on the subject of HDTVs. The following is MY experience with this purchase and ultimately my opinion...After purchasing this HDTV from Amazon, I waited in anticipation for EAGLE to deliver it as soon as possible. It was scheduled to come during the week of Jan 4-10 and surprisingly came almost a week earlier. I was delighted. After asking the Delivery person to help me move the HDTV to my living room, against EAGLE's policy, he agreed to help. The box was definitely large and cumbersome, though it didn't weigh nearly as much as stated, probably closer to 60lbs. Muscling it up some stairs and depositing it into my living room. I thanked him and proceeded to unpack the HDTV.It came packed in a very large box with a break-away base, this allowed me to lift the box off without actually removing the HDTV from it secure Styrofoam base. All four corners were also secured with large blocks of Styrofoam packaging.Against the stated warning, I -alone- lifted the TV onto a 60" credenza in my living room. Since all the major parts are housed in the base of the HDTV, it was counter-balanced well, unlike standard TVs which are primarily top/front heavy. The base is roughly a 4" high, 18" deep, and 30" wide pedestal, and the TV measures about 55" wide, and about 45" high. All the inputs are on the RIGHT (Rear and Side). The Power cord is in the middle of the rear.I have a Stereo Receiver, Comcast Digital Box, DVD Player and Xbox360 that I hooked up to this television. Both the DVD player and Xbox360 occupy the two component inputs and two RCA inputs. The Digital Box is through the Digital coaxial and standard coaxial inputs achieved with a supplied coaxial splitter. Unoccupied at this time are the two HDMI inputs -the only inputs that support 1080p-, the VGA input, the other two RCA inputs and a Cable Card input.I have had exceptional reactions to the quality and performance of the JVC HD-56FN97. Out of the box, it's not perfect. The first run though was to set up the Digital Cable. It performed a standard channel scan, going through all the standard channel signals and then any Digital channel signals. After this set up, I flipped through a few of the channels. I wasn't overly impressed with the color or picture, but after fiddling with the color setting in the HDTV's menu -which is a complete mess- I was able to get satisfactory coloring. There is a noticeable green cast on some channels. Since I don't have an HD channel package through my cable provider, the standard cable did not take full advantage of my HDTV's capabilities. The picture looked rather flat, grainy and did not support the wide screen format. There's an Aspect menu feature that lets you change this format from Panorama (simulated 16:9), Cinema (zoomed and cropped 4:3), Full (stretched 4:3) and Standard (4:3). Most of the time while watching Cable, it was set for Standard (4:3).Next, I set up the Xbox360. One of the most frustrating problems I had with the JVC HD-56FN97 was the Input selection menu. It wasn't intuitive nor was it easy to maneuver through. Using the remote -which was less than aesthetically pleasing- I had to scroll through a list of inputs, wait till the TV received the signal, and then scroll to the next, till I reached the desired input. This was done using the remote's directional pad or the CH+ CH- buttons and then selecting the OK button. I would have preferred a direct button to go to the desired input. This was Not expected for a Next-Gen television. The settings menu was set up the exact same way, being even more involved and less intuitive. You'll probably use the manual often till you get comfortable with all the less than descriptive names JVC used. The picture quality of the Xbox360 was probably the BEST. Though I had to set it to 1080i, the highest HD signal the component inputs would allow. The colors were vibrant, the picture was crisp, and during game play there was very little blur noticeable. I played both Gears of War and Call of Duty 2, and was very impressed with the overall picture quality and performance. This TV was made for GAMING.DVD's on the other hand did not seem as crisp. More noticeable while watching full screen DVDs, and less so with Wide screen DVDs. The coloring and picture was still better than Standard TV. The Wide screen DVDs used the auto-detected wide screen (16:9) format also. I have yet to experience HD-DVD or Blu-ray DVDs, but would imagine that the output would be even better. This is an impressive television for MOVIES.My only true complaint is the remote and menu system. A work around I've found was with the purchase of the Logitech Harmony universal remote for Xbox. After setting all my components up, using it's computer based programming feature, I was able to set specific buttons for all my inputs finally. Of course, this remote offers more useful features (such as Activies), but that's for a different review. In conclusion, the JVC HD-56FN97 HDTV is a great home theater / gaming television with ample features and inputs and exceptional quality and performance. At the price it's also great buy considering all the inputs and features. I failed to mention earlier; the LCoS projector technology that JVC uses -under the HD-ILA name- is also exceptional. I have yet to see any rainbow effects or any "pixelation". I imagine my impressions will only grow when I take full advantage of the two HDMI inputs. JVC makes an affordable, quality HDTV.I hope this review is helpful towards making your informative HDTV purchase.

5Great Picture,cooling fan a little noisy
By Broadcast Bob
Cablevision Hd Channels look great on this set. Cooling fan a little noisy but not a deal breaker. Tv will need setup for best pictureA lot cheaper then the equivalent Sony and didnt see any differencebetween the two sets in the store. SD Channels look good on this set even when expanded to fill the screen. Paid around 1500 for this TV and I amvery happy with it.

3Works great for what I paid for it
By Craigslistholic
Just bought the TV from the Craigslist 2 days ago. Perfect condition, 2 mo old lamp. For $90. That's right.Would I buy this TV for more than that? Probably not more than $150.The best picture on this TV comes from Blu-ray, X-Box, pretty much any source with true 1080p output. Next in line is Netflix streaming via my laptop through HDMI port. With upscaling DVD player via HDMI, the picture becomes slightly more coarse, and colors get more washed out, but still OK to watch.Anything else outside the HDMI looks bad, even component video from my Pioneer Elite DV-45A (not upscaling). Maybe using the receiver that could upgrade component to HDMI help, I don't know. The fan is noisy, but tolerable. Audio is acceptable, and covers the fan noise even at lowest volumes. The TV can work as a center channel, too. Despite the size, it's quite light (~80#), and easily transportable by 2 people.Overall, I'm REALLY happy with paying $90 for 56" rear-projection 1080p in perfect shape, as I am planning to get PS3 anyway.

5Temperature just right, in the long run
By Closer
In light of Shelley Ryan's excellent report on the problem she had with her Presto fryer, I thought I should report my own experience. I filled my fryer with oil and let it come up to temperature on the highest setting. I checked the temperature with my own thermometer when the light went out, and indeed the temperature was only around 340 degrees rather than 375 as it should be. But, after simply mixing the oil around a bit with the drip baskets, I found that within a few minutes the temperature rose right up to 375 degrees, as it was supposed to be. The heating elements are very close to the unit's internal thermostat, and I think that you need to get the oil moving a bit in order for all of the oil to heat uniformly up to the correct temperature.Of course, once the food gets frying there is plenty of movement in the oil to even out the temperature. And given the substantial amount of oil and the amount of power supplied by the unit's heating elements, I find that it does a much better, cleaner, and safer job of frying than I'd been experiencing on my gas stovetop with a deep pot. My experience has been that the temperature comes back up to the right level very quickly. The french fries, empanadas, and fried chicken I've cooked in it so far have come out great. As some others have posted in reply to her review, it's possible that the thermostat in Ryan's unit was simply defective. For mine, it seems to be just right.

5This is a great fryer
By LKC
When I decided to purchase a fryer, I started by first doing research; reading online reviews(like this)and reading consumer publication reviews. Next I go to the manufacturer's website of the fryers that look good and download the instruction manuals for the model I am interested in. This allows me to really get a feel for the products features and find out if there are any drawbacks.Last,I went to some local stores to get a hands on look at fryers with similar capacities and features as the one(s)I am considering. This gave me a real since of how much food I could fry in these machines. So, having done all this I decided to go with the Presto ProFry(05466).I have used the Presto Profry 3 times, frying shrimp, mushrooms, and sweet potatoes. Everything has cooked up nice and crisp with very little oily feeling or taste. This fryer comes with two half size baskets(about the same size as a basket in the smaller machines), but by going to the Presto web site I found out I could get a full size basket for it as well. I used the large basket when I fried the sweet potato fries and it allowed me to cook them without crowding them. The two smaller baskets allowed me to fry shrimp at the same time as mushrooms and bring them to the table at the same time.I was little concerned about the size of this appliance, but it does not take up much more space than other smaller capacity fryers. Based on how I will use this, I decided larger would be better. I will not be frying all that often, it will be mostly be used when I have the family over for get-togethers. When I looked at the smaller fryers it was clear that they just would not hold enough to be efficient for a group(4-6 people). And if I am going to all the trouble of frying, I don't want to just fry a little bit(for just my husband and I). And as far as the "trouble" of frying goes, this machine is pretty easy. It holds a gallon of oil which is exactly the large size container the grocery store sells of veg. and peanut oil. I consider frying as something that should only be done outside, never in my kitchen. So, I just set up a table on my back patio next to the electric outlets and fry away. When I finish frying, cleanup is a matter of letting the oil cool and then pouring it through a strainer into a tight sealing container. I do not have a good filter/container system for this yet but I think a trip to the discount store will provide me with what I need. So far I have had my husband hold a tea strainer over the mouth of the container the oil came in and I carefully pour the oil in. I know there are one or two modes of fryers out there that are designed to streamline this process but the potential of the system failing and ending up with oil(maybe very hot!)leaking out and going everywhere makes me happy to just pour it out myself. One other thing, I read on one of these reviews that since this is a large volume of oil, the heat sensor may register that it has reached the correct temp. but the oil closer to the surface my still be too cool to fry correctly. So, after the light goes out, indicating that it is up to temp. I take a long pair of tongs and gently stir the oil around and allow it to heat up a little more. Finally, this a great machine, a good price, and I recommend it 100%.

4With a little Mod this Fryer will be EXCELLENT
By Luis Fabara
I got this fryer from my dad.He bought it because it was dirt cheap and looked great. At first, even at the 375F setting this frier would not get any hotter than 360F, so I decided to sell it on Ebay, and get another one, since Im starting to do some experiments for a Burger Franchise @Burgerhaus.I had a burger fest on a weekend so I decided to try frying about 10 KG of fries on a Sunday. The frier worked great, but sometimes the temperature was not enough when frying 1KG at once on the 2 baskets. After looking on how the temperature sensors are secured, I decided to try modifying the fryer. It seems that the sensors are perfectly calibrated for the temperatures on the dial. However, this sensors are attached with a metal plate directly to the heating element, so what the fryer actually reads its an average from the Oil temp and the heating element temp.Removing the supporting plate and 2 screws that hold the sensors, allows the fryer to correctly read the Oil's Temp. After doing this, the Presto Profry will get up to 390F as peaking point, and work at an average of 370F on the 375 on the Dial. 365 Peak and 350F average on the 350F ,and so on. The fryer will work perfectly after that. (Look at the pictures with the Thermometer @Customer Images)I rate the fryer a 4, since this is a little design flaw, and also because it does not have an oil filtering system like other fryers.Other than that, and after the mod, this is a SUPERB Fryer for only $69.99I higly recommend using Palm Oil, High Smoke Point Peanut Oil, Soy Oil+Palm Olein. Do not use Canola, Olive, Sunflower or other Higly Monosaturated oils as this have low smoke points and will be health dangerous at any temp higher than 350F.

5Big improvement in towing.
By Linus Brewer
For 2 years I had engine and transmission heating problems towing heavy (24K#s). The engine is a Duramax, and trans is an Allison. A number of times the computer told me to stop or it would shut me down. Since putting this cooler on I have had no other heating problems with trans temp or engine temp. I often am towing heavy in mountians where 20 mph is max due to sharp curves. Interestingly, going down hill the trans would get very hod because the thermo controled engine fan would shut off because the engine was below 190, then at 20 mph down hill, the stock trans cooler did not get enough air flow. Now that is not a problem.

1Extremely High Maintenance
By Northern MN Big Maxx owner
I have had the 45,ooo btu Big Maxx heater now for about 4 years. Every winter is a new set of repairs and continued repairs to keep it working. I leave my step ladder set up next to it because I am constantly working on it to keep it heating. I have ordered my 4th circut board to be put in this time. There is a bad connection in it now so I have touch the circut board everytime I want it to start heating. The others were shorted out because there is no fuse on the circut board. I would recommend spending a little more money and getting a better, lower maintenance heater.

1You get what you pay for
By L. Sprinkle
We used an unvented natural gas heater in our garage for several years. With many more cold days this past winter, we began having concerns with the excess amount of moisture and condensation produced by non-venting. Having already roughed-in the electrical and thermostat wiring for a unit heater when the garage was built, we decided it was time to switch to a vented heater. We looked at the Modine and Big Maxx heaters and selected the Big Maxx 45 when it went on sale for $399 at Northern Tool. We ordered the heater and had it shipped to a store in our area to avoid shipping charges. The heater arrived much quicker that we anticipated. Our original plan was to install the heater sometime during the summer and be ready for next winter. The next weekend was nice weather so we decided to go ahead and install the Big Maxx.Since the heater needed to mount at a 45 degree angle to the room, we mounted unistrut channel to the ceiling joists and mounted the heater thereto. We used category I gas vent from Lowe's. Installation was simple and straight forward. Then we turned the heater on.The induced draft motor made a LOT of noise and vibration. Then the blower fan came on and you needed hearing protection to stay in the room. In the bedroom above the garage, it actually sounded like someone was running a couple of hammer drills. Being an engineer, I inspected both blowers to see why they vibrated so badly. The induced draft blower had a nice looking squirrel cage blower but the shaft hole was drilled off center. The next day we took the heater down, boxed it up and returned it to Northern as defective.Next we ordered a Modine heater. Installation was a little more complicated because we already had the hole in the wall for the vent. We mounted this heater slightly differently to take advantage of the existing hole. This heater required Category III venting for our installation so we ordered Z-Vent online. The Modine heater is quiet as a mouse. As they say, "you get what you pay for".

1Mr NO-heater
By Jim Olson
I bought this unit in Nov 2007. I have had trouble with it from day one. The company has been good to work with ( they sent replacement parts) but it just stopped working again. Parts come but takes 2 weeks or so. They don't rush it. 3 times now in 4 months. It is garbage and should be recalled and taken off the market. Spend more or get a different brand but stay away from this. I put one star only because that was as low as it would go.

5Product Clarification
By Hydra
The online description of this product is rather poor. I wanted 12/3 UF-B underground wire with ground. That is what is sort of IMPLIED with this product, but it isn't labeled nearly as clearly as some of the other lengths sold by other vendors. Just to clear up any confusion, this wire is, in fact, UF-B and does have a grounding wire.
