5Only one word to describe this lamp: "Stunning!"
By samson
It hurt me to pull this much money out of my wallet to buy this lamp but the pictures just looked so impressive and I thought this is one of those "once in a lifetime" purchases. I purchased both the floor lamp and matching table lamp. I was concerned that once the lamps arrived that the floor lamp might be like many floor lamps with a nice shade but with a flimsy pole made of thin steel. Not so on these beauties! The floor lamp is a heavy, beautifully sculpted iron and very solid. The lamp is just stunning up close. The beauty of the agate stones and the hue from the lamp is difficult to describe but it is mesmerizing like a fire in a fireplace with warm orange-yellow-red variations. The lamps give me a similar impression of looking at very expensive antique heirlooms. Their expensive and worth every penny!

5I use this constantly
By Steven J. Rickard
I started making my own sauerkraut several years ago, using a crockpot liner and a plastic bag. Once I found out how very, very easy it is to make sauerkraut at home, and how healthy it is, I ordered this fermenting crock pot. Yes, it's pricey. Yes, it's heavy. Is it worth it? Absolutely. If you're making naturally pickled vegetables, you really can use this. I haven't fooled around with temperature control or anything like that -- I keep it on my kitchen counter, and every four weeks or so I very thinly slice about 10-12 pounds of cabbage, add salt and a little extra water if I think it needs it, a teaspoon of red pepper flakes, a little brine from my previous batch, pack it in there, press the weights on top of the cabbage, put on the lid, pour water around the seal... and three or four weeks later... delicious sauerkraut! I pack that into quart jars, put 'em in my fridge, and eat it just about every day. Friends and family who love sauerkraut have gotten quite demanding about getting their own share. The water seal does a great job. As long as I don't get curious and peek inside (something I did my first couple of batches), I have had absolutely NO yeast growth. It's fun to listen to the water bubble occasionally as the fermentation starts and gasses escape from inside the pot.I was worried the first time the weather changed and suddenly the gutter was nearly empty of water. I'd just filled it! Where did it go? I realized the pot was acting as a rough barometer. When the air pressure outside changes, the water occasionally gets sucked inside the gutter, out of sight. Don't worry, it's not going in the sauerkraut, and it drains back into the gutter once the air pressure changes. I add enough water to keep the tiny vent-hole in the lid covered when that happens. Now I check the water level to get an idea of what the weather may be doing. Who'da thought?I went on a kick for awhile of shredding and fermenting carrots, but my sauerkraut-fans got rather strident about wanting more sauerkraut, so I've been back to cabbage. I did about three pounds of broccoli once...it worked fine, but the taste didn't appeal to me much. Maybe I'll try it again sometime. I hear collards make a great fermented vegetable, and turnips also get good reviews.I'm surprised at how much people like this 'kraut. Last Thanksgiving I brought a side "salad" of sauerkraut mixed with chopped dates, toasted walnuts and a couple of shredded carrots. I didn't bring too much, because I thought I'd be the only one eating it, especially after I told people I'd made the 'kraut myself. Turned out that I hardly got any because everyone gobbled it down. This year I'll be sure to double the amount.A few things I've learned:10-12 pounds of cabbage (before coring and shredding) seems to be about the right amount for this size pot. It makes about 5 quart jars of packed-down 'kraut, with a little left over (I eat that). For me, that's a great amount -- three jars or so for my fridge, a jar for my parents and a jar for a friend. If I ever have more than four jars, I hold off on the next batch. Not sure how long a jar keeps. The longest I've ever had a jar before eating it was about three months. I don't can it in a boiling water bath -- I like to keep the lactic-acid bacteria alive and healthy. What's the point, otherwise? I can buy the boiled stuff at the store.I like to add a head of red cabbage to the two or three heads of green cabbage I use. It makes the 'kraut a nice pink-purple color, and I believe the red cabbage has more antioxidants. (Anything I know about healthy eating comes from my own reading or popular culture, so make up your own mind about that.)Adding a little of the brine from a previous batch of 'kraut seems to really give the fermentation process a boost. Sometimes I add a lot. My last batch had nearly four cups of brine left over once I'd packed the kraut into jars. I put a little aside in the refrigerator (I notice that the 'kraut tends to absorb some brine after sitting awhile, so I "top it off" after a week or so) and poured the rest into my next batch.I fooled around with the amount of salt I use -- I eat enough of this that I don't want to have it TOO salty, so I've found an amount that works for me. Too little salt and the 'kraut may not be crisp, too much and it's more useful as a condiment than a vegetable serving. I add about a tablespoon of salt for every five pounds of cabbage, occasionally a bit more, maybe as much as another tablespoon mixed in three or four cups of water, when I want to add some extra salt water to the shredded cabbage. This may or may not work for you. I realize this dramatically less than most "recommended" amounts, but it works for me. I found the book "Wild Fermentation" to be very helpful as I experimented with the amount of salt in my fermented veggies.I've only had two batches not work out (and I've had this pot for going on two years now). One batch, oddly enough, never really got sour. Not sure what that was about. It was edible, but bland and tasteless. I ended up composting most of that batch. The other "failed" batch was too soft for my taste (not very crunchy, a bland and disconcerting texture), so I used it to make soup. I think the temperature may have been too warm in my kitchen for both batches(it was summer) or I didn't use enough salt. Other than those two, I've made a couple dozen batches of fermented cabbage and other veggies in this pot, and haven't had anything go wrong. I've eaten pounds of the stuff, and nothing's gone wrong with ME, either.I prefer more brine than not, and so just to be sure I'm going to have enough liquid to keep the 'kraut covered, I usually add a cup or four of salt water to the shredded cabbage. This, combined with the juice that comes out of the cabbage, is always enough to cover it with enough left over to add to my next batch.Emptying the gutter was difficult the first time. I didn't want that water to get into my 'kraut, but the pot was too heavy to easily move. I use a "bendy" drinking straw as a siphon: fill the straw with water, put one end in the gutter, put the other end in a drinking glass at a lower level, and let the water drain into the drinking glass. Works like a charm. I mop up the rest of the water with a clean kitchen towel, and I'm ready to pack my 'kraut into jars. If I'm going to make another batch right away, I make sure to slice and salt the "new" cabbage, and then I can immediately pack it into the freshly-emptied pot without needing to rinse it out. The healthy bacteria in the pot get to work right away making another batch of 'kraut.Do NOT store the weights in the empty jar, especially with the lid over it. Even when they feel dry, they may not be, and I got a light dusting of mold on mine when I foolishly did that once. I cleaned them very well, let them sit in the bright sunlight for a few days, and that took care of the problem, but I've been careful ever since. On the rare occasions my Garitopf is empty, I rest the lid on top so that it doesn't seal, and I keep the weights behind the pot, in the open air.Update: March 10, 2012I thought it might be time to update this review a bit, as my sauerkraut experience has increased. I still use the pot nearly all the time, and consider it one of my best pieces of kitchen equipment. I'm still surprised by how many people really, really like homemade sauerkraut. About a month ago, a friend of mine asked me to try making a batch of kimchi for a Korean pork roast he was making. I figured it was worth a try, reviewed a few recipes, and started a small batch, using quart jars instead of the crock, because I wasn't sure if it would really be ready in a week. It did, in fact, only take a week to get sour, and my place smelled strongly of onion, garlic and ginger for most of that week. I finally thought to seal the jars in a large Ziploc bag, and that took care of the problem.I will certainly make it again, it was delicious and a hit at the dinner party, but I will use the crock next time, and see if the smell is less strong. Nothing wrong with those smells, I just didn't want to sniff 'em 24-7. I'll let you know how it works.I still siphon the water out of the gutter before putting the sauerkraut into jars, but now I use a short length of silicone tubing I bought at a hardware store. It's easier than the drinking straw, and endlessly re-usable.In my original review I mentioned that I use a head of red cabbage. I don't do that as often any more, mostly because I found that I prefer the flavor of sauerkraut made from green cabbage. I've also recently been experimenting with the amount of salt I add. I still use about 10 pounds of cabbage, and I weighed the amount of salt I was adding. It came to about 70 grams for five quarts. I dropped that down to 50 grams last time and, if anything, the sauerkraut was even better than usual. I'm going to keep experimenting.A batch I made in January of this year startled me (and a friend) by fizzing like soda pop when the jars were opened. I was afraid something had gone badly wrong. I did some research, and from what I read, this is fine. I ate it, my friend ate it, and it was perfectly good. One site I referenced said that in Austria fizzy kraut is called "Champagne Kraut" and is considered a delicacy. (I have no way of knowing if that's true.) Delicacy or not, one such jar fizzed its way all over the shelf of my refrigerator, so now I'm careful to check the jars every few weeks and crack the lids a bit if necessary, to relieve the pressure.Out of all the gallons of sauerkraut I've made, I recently had one half-empty jar of sauerkraut go bad. I'd opened it in October, it got shoved to the back of my refrigerator for a few months, forgotten. When I opened it again in January, I immediately knew it was off -- the smell was unpleasant, not rotten, exactly, but like mildew. There wasn't enough brine in the jar -- the cabbage wasn't covered, and it wasn't protected. I tossed it in the compost heap. I've wondered before how I'd know if a batch wasn't good, and now I'm pleased to know how very and immediately obvious it is if a jar has gone bad. Finally, as I mentioned in my initial review, I personally have found the book "Wild Fermentation" to be quite helpful in my fermented-veggie journey. It's a book I checked out of the library often enough that I finally bought a copy of my own. I was surprised (although I don't really know why) when I read a number of reviews on this site by people who were offended by the author's salty language and political viewpoints, both of which are liberally sprinkled throughout the book. I personally found it all entertaining and educational, but more traditional and/or conservative people may prefer to get their tips and tricks from web sites, or trial and error. Just sayin'. I wouldn't want you to buy a book on my recommendation and then find it to be too offensive to be helpful. Thanks for the comments, and good luck!

5Great Quality Fermenting Crock!
By Miyomoto Masaki
I bought this crock in February and I have now just opened it up after trying my first batch of saurkraut. It turned out great. I like it much more than any store bought brand. I'm eating my first bites of it as I type this review. This crock really works. I've never made saurkraut before and I have to admit it was realatively easy. You do have to place the crock in a warm place for a few days to get the fermentation started. You want a good start so no spoiling will occur. After you hear bubbles escaping from the lid then you know it's at work. The aroma is distinct at this time. You don't want to go at it too long or all of the sugars will be used up and you will have really sour saurkraut. Then you put the crock in a cooler area (in the 50's to low 60's) for 3 plus weeks. This period is a slow fermentation period that develops the aroma of the finished saurkraut. The longer you can leave it the better. I think it is important to note that at this time you have just purchased a crock but you've had to wait over a month before even opening the lid. So.. I'm glad I bought the 7.5 L size. I think it is enough to make 8 or more quart mason jars of finished saurkraut. You may end up leaving it in the crock for over 6 weeks. The longer the better the flavor gets. There are other recipies of pickled vegetables that I'm anxious to try. Alas I only have one crock and these are rather expensive. I wish I had two of them. They are heavy, and of good quality. The water seal really works. I highly recommend this if you want to make fermented foods. Now I need to cook up some hot dogs! (p.s. - Use good, organic cabbage). 5 Stars!

4Simple. Good craftmanship. Works Great.
By Cole Kozloff
This product worked great, just as described! Worked great for my first experiment; kimchi. Water seal, craftsmanship is great. Only concern is the 'weight stones' are a bit fragile as they don't appear to be glazed like the rest of the crock and chip if you are not careful.

5Lovely tiny turtles
By suso903
I purchased this as a friendship gift, keeping one myself and giving the other to a loved one. They are striking and sparkly, tiny pieces. I collect, among other things, turtles and owls from around the world, and these, along with the mini clear crystal owl, are striking additions to my collection. My home is not brightly lit, and yet these tiny pieces sparkle and draw the eye, even in dim light. I love them. Please note that I am not a Swarovski collector and I am not usually fond of "cute" art. These are gorgeous pieces, and photos just don't do justice to them.

5Love this stylish fixture!
By Daisy likes to cook
I bought this fixture from Lamps Plus before it was offered at Amazon.com. This fixture looks great over the headboard of a bed. I switched out the bulbs with an LED equivalent (they're a little expensive but worth it), so it's super bright and burns cool and will last years and years and for only pennies on energy use. Highly recommend.

4It Gets VERY HOT!!!!
By Demetra Gayle
We like this lamp but it gets VERY HOT!! and I'm afraid one of us will burn ourselves. I thought I was buying an LED light when I ordered it! That is what I put in the search engine and was very disturbed that what we got was NOT LED and was so hot. It is right over our heads after installation, and the heat is intense. We would like LED bulb replacements for the bulbs we have and would happily return the ones we have.Thank you.

4Wonderful product.
By eclaire
Very versatile, well-made product. The convection cooling for the lamp housing works reasonably well, but halogen fixtures get very hot, so adjusting the lamp direction after it's been burning a while is tricky. Still, the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it's pretty expensive for what it is and thus value is not off the charts. But it's a very fine execution of the concept, i.e., highly directional, WARM-COLORED light (MUCH more pleasing than the awful blue to led fixtures) that can be discretely aimed and modulated in intensity (and power consumption) from very low to pretty darn bright.

5great hammer

Been using this hammer for about 4 months now and it's great. This hammer completely changed my mind about titanium hammers. The only thing I would like to see different on this hammer is a slightly smaller face.

4big hammer for big guys
By C. arthur
This is a big hammer, the long handle and the large striking face come together to form something the 5 ft 5 guys may not be the most comfortable with. But if that describes what you're looking for, then I would say its the one for you. The titanium head makes what may seem a little too big just right. I own a steel Dalluge and really prefer the titanium one.

4this is a very good hammer
By Aaron Lopez
this a very good framing hammer. but it is just a framing hammer. it doesn't have a replaceable face for finnish work, or new milled face when the teeth flatten out. it is all titanium so the teeth are a little softer than steel. it has a large striking face for less missed swings, or busted fingers. it has a long handdle, which accomodates short people like me. it also has a convienient nail lock holder on the top of the striking face.

5Byte Brothers Real World Certifier
By S. Paxson
I purchased this certifier about two months ago mainly to certify one new installation of 76 cat6 cables. The price was my main concern to get the job done. Compared to other testers on the market, this is by far the best that money can buy for ease of use and getting the results required. It prints from memory, up to 250 cable certifications both on cable only AND ports on switches and computers. I had a customer complain that the cat6 cable was not allowing 1 gig to his equipment when in fact it was the port on his switch that was at fault. Showing him the results on the testers screen of both the cable and the switch proved the point. Great product for the budget minded cable installer or network certifier!!

By J. Stahlecker
The RWC1000 is an excellent tool to certify cat5/6 cabling and data jacks! After you use it a couple of times, you won't have to go back to the book to recall the steps for testing the data cable. It does an excellent job to provide the certification you need, either on screen or print-out on an Excel spreadsheet.

5The Number ONE Framing Hammer: Dalluge
By N. D. ThunderEagle
Dalluge is pronounced "Duh, Loo-Gee" .I bought the Dalluge hammer with 16 ounce titanium head and 19 inch curved(axe) hickory handle. The Dalluge hammer was $120.00 + shipping wen I bought it.The head of the Dalluge 16oz is larger than other titanium hammer heads. Its sleek, has long sharp claws, and the handle will fit any hand.Personally I liked a slightly thicker handle than the Dalluge handle, but thats personal taste, so I think the point is moot.I sealed my handle with a few coats of Varathane® Spray Polyurethane, because I am in the rain allot, so you may want to do this and also seal the top of the handle in the eye of the head. The Dalluge Head is a bit larger and may make it difficult to get a nail into a tight spot, Stiletto hammers have small heads and this is less than a problem for them. This point is something to consider, but I think it makes for a week point for a negative opinion(its not that important).Using this hammer, its like this hammer puts the nails in for you. It flies like a dream, and hits like a pneumatic piston. The head is soo Beefy that if you miss - it scares the nail in...I have used a Vaughan Steel 23oz for years before finding the awesome qualities of Titanium. Before switching to a Dalluge Titanium I have used:Dead-On Wood Handle, The heads come loose and the claws are too thick to split plates.Stiletto Wood handle, If you can find one get an "Older" Stiletto because the nail sets on the old style heads have more clearance for the head of the nail to set(stick a 16D on a bran new stiletto hammers nail set and you will see that the nail cannot fully seat down, nothing a quick pas with a grinder would not fix though), also there is more meat on the claws of the older style, and the older style handles are beefier.Stiletto Titanium handle, A good hammer but hickory absorbs more shock than a I-Beam of Titanium, In a tight spot you cannot use this hammer to hit a nail on the side of the head, and the new ones with a side nail puller don't work as well as they would like you to think they do.Estwing Steel handle, If this hammer could say one word it would be TWANGG! because thats what my arm and wrist feels. If there was a top Ten(10) list of great framing hammers and Dalluge was #1, a close second would be the:The Vaughan Ti-Tech 16oz Axe Handle HammerFraming Titanium Wood Handle HammerThis one is a good trade off instead of the Dalluge for one reason. It has a Steel cap face, on a Titanium head, so you don't have to be as care full with what you are striking. You could beet the hell out of anything you want, and thats something you cant and should not do with a Titanium face headed hammer.Milled vs un-Milled: The milled face of a Titanium hammer head will smush down over time, and will do so faster than a steal headed hammer...Its not a big deal, here is why.Every framer/carpenter should be able to pound nails just fine with a smooth faced hammer, if you cannot and you buy a Titanium hammer with milled face to make up for you're inept ability. You now have until the milled face smooths out to get good at it. All hammers do this, I suggest that wen buying a Titanium hammer you buy a "Smooth Face".Wen a Milled Face hammer smooths out it can create a concave head face, because as the milled spikes get smushed down they push out and fill in the lines that have been milled to create the head grip. This can lead to a problem, wen nailing and hitting the hammer face flat, the nail head its self dose not sink flat to the board because of the deformed hammer head. The Dalluge hammers dont have this problem hardly at all, for there hammer heads are slightly rounded or convex and the milling is very shallow (Siletto hammer heads are nearly flat and suffer from this problem more than others).DO-NOT-EVER: hit concrete with a Titanium hammer, hit anything with the claw harder that wood(that means do not hit nails with the claw ether), try to grind the face with a power grinder(you CAN use a hand file if you wish), try to take nails out the wrong way(if you don't know the right way you Shouldn't be using a hammer), hit a nail with the edge of a head(it WILL chip), hit another hammer face such as a steel hammer(you're Titanium hammer will deform), leave it in the rain/sun(the handle will loosen but you can put another wedge in the top), put a nail in the handle to fix a wobbling handle(use a wedge, if you use a nail you are not smart), lend it out to a friend or co-worker.Buy a Dalluge and you will get noticed. A co-worker liked mine so much he bought it from me after use-ing it for only 10 minutes! . He was using a heavy steel club made by Kobalt. He was a Big Strong Man and swung his Kobalt Club like an oger. After getting my Dalluge, his old hammer sat in the back of his Ram Truck and rotted away. Kobalt is just a cheap line of tools made by another manufacturer. I always have my used Stiletto hammer in my box as a back up so I used that to get buy, until I bought another Dalluge. Wen I bought my second Dalluge, I opted for the 14oz with Axe handle and found that it actually worked better for me. If you are a Big Strong Man, don't fool around, get the 16oz with Axe handle.Get the Axe handle, it balances the strike better than a straight handle. The Number ONE Framing Hammer: Dalluge.Remember: This Dalluge hammer is the best hammer you will ever buy for framing, so do not ever let any one els put there Neandertal hands on you're Dalluge Framing Hammer Handle. (if they do there is always the chop saw...)

5Fabulous boot!
By Yolande Maarsen
The Sunburst boot has a narrower foot than the Ultra or Sundance. I have the Ultra and Classic as well and the Sunburst is a bit sleeker in appearance which I like. The sizing is the same as for any other Ugg boot. I walked home in a snowstorm for 40 min. which was actually faster than being stuck on a bus and the boots were perfectly warm with ideal traction and later were as new looking as ever. (Always waterproof before wearing.) But I did spend 20 min. standing still waiting for a bus in single digit temps and my feet were getting cold at that point which wouldn't have happened with the Ultras. The tiny bit of difference in the thickness of the toe means that they can't keep your feet as warm in up to -30 below which is advertised for Uggs in general. However, that is an extreme situation. I've worn these all day in the office without my feet feeling warm. These are a great addition to my wardrobe and well-worth the price. Also, after searching the country for hours on the internet for this boot, I was able to find it in my size only through Amazon, and at a good price!! Very impressive!

2Wonder now if they are authentic Uggs
By Octavia
This was my original review with "4 stars":I like these boots. I had checked other websites and decided this was a better deal. I was not pleased with the packaging of the boots. It was shipped as if you were at a shoe store and many had already tried them on. I also ordered one size down from my regular size and yet the boots were still too big. Have to wear socks otherwise they flop on my feet.*** EDITED *** (10-28-09) I have only worn these UGG boots about 3 times since purchasing in December 2008. I got this pair out of the original box (stuffed & wrapped properly)and decided to treat the suede today. I had purchased a great protectant/treatment spray. The other UGGS boots I treated were purchased from UGGS official website and another pair from a high-end department store. I had no problem with brushing the nap of the suede and applying the spray on these boots. BUT....the one pair I purchased from this seller...the nap started shedding--awfully! I know these are NOT AUTHENTIC REAL UGGS BOOTS.

5UGG Women's Sunburst Tall
By M. Schueler
This is my first pair of UGG boots. They have exceded my expectations. They are the most comfortable boots that I've ever worn. While walking many miles in Chicago with the relentless snow and slush caking the sidewalks, these boots kept my feet WARM and DRY!! It seems that everytime I wear them people stop me to compliment my stylish boots. They are definitely worth the extra $$$.Michele from RF.

5Great nails - great value
By DanS
I've used these for lots of framing jobs. They are excellent quality. They drive through the gun right down to the last nail in the clip. The galvanized coating makes the impervious to weather and they grip the wood great - no danger of them "backing-out".

5Nails
By B. Ellis
Not a lot to say here, we are talking about a box of nails. The nails I received were plastic not paper collated which made me very happy. I'm 1/2 way through the box and haven't had a strip missing a single nail. I guess the one draw bAck of the plastic collated stip is that you need to wear eye protection as the piece of plastic flies off when firing the nail. I'll put up with this as the plastic collates nails are much easier to load then paper.

5Versatile, powerful and productive
By Rich & Peggy
I've been a weekend woodworker for over 20 years. I recently purchased the Shop Fox 14" saw to add versatility to my shop. The Shop Fox is heavy and well built. The cast iron wheels and 1 HP motor have effortlessly resawn several feet of black walnut. I've also cut veneer sheets from pecan that you could actually see light through. I spent about 2 hours setting up the saw, using the instructions in the manual. The saw required only minimal adjustments and those have not drifted at all in the last 6 weeks of use. I have used 1/8", 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" blades so far, all with no tracking problems or other issues. Blade changes are straight-forward and adjusting the guides is simple, but the lower guides are hard to reach unless you get down under the table. It's still not too bad and the adjustments are logically laid out. A riser is available that provides an additional 6" re-saw capability. I can recommend this saw to anyone.

5SHOP FOX W 1706
By WOOD ART
I have had this saw for three years and have used it weekly as a weekend warrior. It is a permanent fixture in the shop and has proved to be very reliable. It is marketed lower than grizzly but has exceeded my expectations as my friend bought grizzly at same time. I use as resaw and have tested the everything from oak to walnut and it performs flawlessly. Drift is so low that I kept rechecking my work when first bought.Plusesvery well built with solid wheelsPractically true out of the boxhas held up strong under humid conditionsextras such as riser and under storage is a huge benefit4" built in dust control is standard

4Shop Fox 14" band saw
By William E. Herbert Jr.
I purchased this saw about 9 months ago. Upon arrival I found the saw to be well packaged and in good condition. An inspection verified that all parts were present and accounted for with no damage. Following the instructions in Shop Fox's manual I setup the saw. Note I also purchased the riser block and a Timber Wolf 3/4" resaw blade for this saw. Please note that the blade that comes with the saw is of only fair quality. Since owning the saw I have resawn several pieces of quarter sawn white oak, even up to 8-1/2" wide with very little drop in saw speed. Now I will admit that setup and a great saw blade go a long way to help this situation, but I have to say that so far I really like this saw.
