life saver
By Kate
I bought this a little prematurely into my pregnancy. I am a stomach sleeper my nature so when I found out that I would eventually need to start sleeping on my sides I went out and read EVERY review known to man on every pregnancy pillow known to man. I initially had a hard time buying this because I wasn't sure that I could justify almost 100 bucks on a pillow! It came in the mail promptly, with a great protective plastic bag that it can be stored in. However, I was only about 2 months pregnant at the time and unfortunately it didn't get much use. I was sad that I'd spent the money on something I wasn't using. Then month 4-5 came around where I could no longer sleep on my stomach. Let me tell you, this has been the best thing to ever happen to me. This rocks my world so much more than the boppy does and let me explain why. When you first start having to sleep on your side, you can probably stay on 1 side the entire night, you might roll over once. So...lugging you body pillow or boppy to go to the other side isn't too bad. However, when you hit month 7 to 8 and the relaxin has started to kick in, your hips are spreading, and the entire world hurts... staying on 1 side the entire night isn't an option. You will turn several times throughout the night to relieve the pressure that is on the hip you've been sleeping on. Because you're already getting crappy sleep to begin with, the less you have to wake yourself up in order to turn over (because you can't just roll at 7 to 8 months...it's a process to get to the other side) the better. Which means if you're not having to lug your pillow to the other side while trying to not wake your significant other or drag all the blankets with you to reposition and get comfortable...all to repeat that in a few hours... it's probably for the best. With this, you have a pillow on either side of you. There is no lugging it or dragging it from side to side. You simply have to turn yourself (which now at 9 months is quite the task alone).Reason number 2 this is better than your body pillow or boppy... The boppy comes up near your head. I am a pillow snob, I'll admit this. I tried sleeping with this pillow the way it's pictured, with my head in the center of the "u" and the pillows going down either side of me. A.) the pillow wasn't thick enough for me and B.) I like to sleep with my face at the very edge of my pillow so I don't feel like I'm breathing in pillow case in the middle of the night, that's hard with this pillow. HOWEVER...if you flip it around the other way, so the bottom of the "u" is at your feet and the opening at your head, it allows you to still use your own pillow. Which, when I've spent $50 on my pillow...is a very good thing. I honestly think it's more comfortable that way anyway, regardless of my pillow, because when you wrap your legs around it and sleep with bent knees it keeps your feet supported and at the same angle as your legs. And again, at 7 to 8 months pregnant when your hips hurt the less they're angled a funny way the better. The case is easy to wash, and it doesn't shrink so it's easy enough to get the pillows back in. I did read a review that said if you're sleeping on it the way it's pictured, take a pillow case and cut open the stitched side so you have a case with an opening on either end. Slide it up and around so it's covering the part your head is on, and then you only have to replace the small case instead of wash the ENTIRE case each week. Pretty genius, if you sleep on it that way. But, in all honesty taking it off to wash it once a week really isn't too bad. When you take the case off you'll notice it's 3 separate pillows. One that looks like a boppy, and 2 "bolsters". This is nice because it can be used to help support breast feeding after baby's born, to support baby during tummy time, and bolsters once they start rolling around to keep them from rolling into things in their sleep. If you really wanted you could bring it a step further and use one of the bolsters as a child's body pillow when they're 4 or 5.All in all, an amazing pillow. I would recommend it to ANYONE. It goes everywhere with me if we're staying out overnight. To my parents house for the baby shower, to the hotel for a weekend get away. Oh, I should also add... I have a king size bed, and my husband and I are average size people and we fit in our king just fine. When we traveled home for the baby shower we slept on a queen at my parents house and it was okay. I think had we had a queen from the get go it wouldn't have felt so much smaller, but because we own a king we could notice it was a little more compact. I'd say if you have a king or queen as long as you're not big people this would work well for you. I would not try to put it in a full, even with 2 small or average sized people.

Wow!

I was a bit skeptical, to be honest. I really did not think spending this much money on a pillow was a good idea, but let me tell you, it was. I'm pregnant, and up till now, I've been having hip/back pain to the point where I'm limping in the mornings. It's been 5 nights since I started sleeping with this pillow and I woke up this morning with NO pain what so ever. This pillow is a dream pillow, and I really feel bad for anyone, pregnant or not, who does not sleep with this pillow. I can't imagine sleeping with out it now. I will probably won't take it apart to use as a nursing pillow when my child is born because I don't ever want to sleep without it again. The con: I'm tall. I'm 5'9 and my feet do not reach the end of the pillow. I like my feet supported when I'm side lying. So when I have a pillow like this that I sleep with underneath my legs, hips, belly, etc., I like it to go all the way down to my feet. It doesn't. It's fine if my knees are bent, but I sometimes like to stretch my legs all the way out, and then my feet hang off. I have had other pregnancy pillows in the past and they were all the same way. The good thing about this company (Moonlight Slumber) is that they make custom size pillows. I didn't realize that until after I ordered it. But, I suggest you go to their website and look at more information about the pillow, and if you also are tall and want your feet supported, spend a few extra bucks and get a custom sized pillow. This pillow is worth every penny. I have slept soundly and pain free for 5 nights, and there is no price tag one can put on that. I have no regrets.

So Worth It!
By P. Frey
I am 7 months pregnant and began feeling the effects of sleep deprivation about this time. I had been using about 8 different pillows to try to get comfortable at night but with all the tossing and turning you do when you're getting bigger, the pillows would scatter everywhere! It became an issue because I just could never get comfortable. My husband is a "researcher" and spent hours looking at every pregger pillow out there, pouring over the reviews...he finally recommended this pillow but I hesitated because of the price point. He always wants to get "the best" whatever the cost. Well, he recently surprised me with the pillow and I have never slept better! It is great because you sort of just sink into it and it supports your entire body. Also, it keeps you from rolling onto your back (which most doctors recommend) and provides just right amount of pillow cushion-not too full at all. The thread count on the pillow case is also nice and provides a nice smooth texture, not too coarse. The zipper is located on the outside of the pillow case and so it does not rub against your body at all. It is just the best pillow ever and I am sure I will use it with the next baby and also in between pregnancies!
