I bought TWO of these racks for "racking" pro audio gear.You gotta LOVE AMAZON for selling these (or any) products that cannot be found locally!!THE POSITIVE-For an open-2 post rack, the STARTECH rack is hard to beat. Especially at this price! The QUALITY, FIT & FINISH of the components(side rails & header/base rail) are second to none!Big, beefy, wide framework, excellent castered lower support legs, not usually found on other racks (in any price range)!The included casters (non locking) are of good quality-zinc plated with a hard rubber or pvc wheel.Lower support legs seem to be fabricated from heaver gauge steel than the side rails.All steel components are carefully extruded with NO sharp edges!All pieces are fine finished, in electrostatic coated, textured semi-gloss paint!Included with the unit-6mm button head allen bolts & nuts (for frame assembly).Also EXTRA bolts and "cage nuts" included, to get you started "racking" a few pieces of gear!THE NEGATIVE-PURCHACE SUPPORT-You can reach STARTECH support by telephone, with questions before purchasing.HOWEVER-STARTECH really needs better/more support materials posted on their website.There are no technical drawings to refer to (for actual dimension accuracy), no real DETAILED close-up photos,No parts explosion diagrams, or part numbers for referencing replacement components.THE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS are vague, with blurry pictures and no mention of the location of the FOUR lower leg mounting bolts located INSIDE the lower frame crossmember.Twin locking front casters are REALLY needed, to keep the loaded unit from "creeping" on uneven floors,But this is easily corrected by purchasing two locking casters from the home store, and installing with the supplied bolts (or screws)PACKAGING-Or should I say the LACK OF PACKAGING!I purchase LOTS of steel furniture, and this is an issue with MOST ALL of the manufacturers, NOT just STARTECH!I purchased TWO of these RACKS, and both of them sustained SHIPPING DAMAGE to the main side rails.The unit is thrown into a SINGLE WALL CARDBOARD BOX, with one layer of thin foam sheet placed between the painted components.The rails were DENTED, some edges were BENT OVER, DENTED IN and the paint was CHIPPED OFF in random areas.SUMMERY-Now, this may not be an issue with most of you, I EXPECT scratches, dents and the like, when buying buying used from eBay or the auction.However, I am very scratch conscious, especially when I'm buying a NEW component; I expect to receive a new, factory fresh unit.IF-and that's a great BIG- IF.....STARTECH would put some attention into correctly packaging this unit for shipping, I would rate this rack as a FIVE STAR-"Big Bang For The Buck" unit.

First off I want to say that Amazon is a fantastic company and is not at all responsible for what I am about to say, other than letting startech get away with it.When I got home from work today, I saw these ugly, mangled cardboard boxes and I was hoping it was not the racks, but sure enough it was the 2 $150 racks I had been waiting patiently for.I pulled them into the house, leaving bits of cardboard behind from the mangled box. I was a little ticked, but became even more ticked when I opened the boxes to see all the surprises i had awaiting me:1. A bent mounting bracket, making the first rack useless2. Screws ALL OVER the box because the bags (as strong as a dried out leaf) had broken during shipping. half of the screws most likely fell through the gaping holes in the box into the bottom of the FedEx truck3. Front side of rack dented in about 1/2 inch4. Scratches all over the front of the rack5. Box destroyed so badly that it was actually harder to get out than if it was intact6. Instructions crumpled up in a ball in bottom of box7. Instructions look like they were xeroxed after a fat guy in the office photocopied his butt and left chunks behind8. Better instructions could be made by my 7 year old cousin who doesn't know what a rack isCalled Startech and they did not help me at all, they told me to take it up with Amazon, even though it was not amazon's sucky a$$ packaging jobAll in all I will never EVER be purchasing another startech product as long as I live, and I urge you to do the same. you think "oh, well, I'm the exception, mine will be fine." It won't be, you're wrong and you are only going to be as pissed off as I am if you do buy this. Look at the other reviews, they had the same problem. It was not just a one time scenario. F Startech.

I read the review about the item being deliver in a fragil box and in most cases with missing parts. Well, I went ahead and ordered one anyways. The item itself it's pretty good. I was lucky to get it all in one piece, only missing 3 bolts. Some minor scratches but set it so they will face to the back and side next to the wall. It looks great. If you're looking for a 2 Post rack, then this is the one. It already comes with casters.
