During the early 90's I belonged to a cigar club, had my own humidor "locker" at the club and had a custom, 500 cigar rare-wood humidor built for me for home use. That was then; I smoke cigars a lot less frequently now and needed a smaller, more modest humidor. I love the look of the high-end humidors like the kind that they sell at Nat Sherman's in Manhattan (a true Mecca for the cigar lover) but I didn't want to spend that much. I was very dubious when I first saw the Pompeii humidor. It really looked nice but can someone get a decent product for this price? The answer is "Yes!".Yes, this is imported (you guess from where) and yes it has flaws but the bottom line is that it works and it works well. When it is new you should wet down the interior before adding cigars and let it sit for a week, this will season it somewhat. Once seasoned it has kept my cigars at 70% humidity for weeks at a time without maintenance. After two or three weeks I soak the humidification blocks for 2 hours and I am good to go. The only problem that I have had has been that the blocks tend to get a little moldy around the vents. I rinse them in very hot water and occasionally use a mild bleach rinse. Other than that it has been much better than I expected for the money. I've been using mine for two years now and it looks really nice in my living room. The window allows me to show off my high-end cigars to guests and I store my everyday smokes in the bottom, under the top drawer. The lid fits reasonably tight and the hardware is decent. The inlay could pass for a much more expensive brand and the gauge is dead-on accurate (I checked it with a pro-model gauge).I give it 3 1/2 stars for quality, five for value so 4 stars all together.

It looks well made and good seal. Worth the money. But, the picture has a lot of lighter colored inlays and the one I got has the inlays but no light colored wood. All pretty dark. Not sure its the same model. Have contacted the seller and posted a photo. No reply as yet.

I bought this humidor earlier in the year (2010. The humidor was shipped quickly and was packaged very well. I have to say it does have a very fancy look to it and the best part is that it has a great design and it is glass top. The humidor was easy to setup and keeps humidity at 70% very good. The humidor is a two stage and comes with a fancy key, Spanish Cedar blocks, and a humidifier. Every time I have someone come over they immediately spot the humidor and love the way it looks. This humidor definitely compliments any room and adds a very classy touch too.I highly recommend this product from the beginner to the afficianado!! You will be very happy with this product and to be honest I wouldn't mind paying double for the price listed. It is just a great way to store about 100 cigars comfortably and keep cigars at ideal temperature and humidity.The analog hydrometer is not as accurate as a digital hydrometer so, I highly suggest buying the digital hydrometer with the humidor to have accurate humidity and temperature within the humidor.Once again this is a great humidor and honestly the best I have seen anywhere and I am an afficianado.
