Right out of the box, these speakers sound warm and have a nice bass response. connecting these to my onkyo 605 was a breeze. The athena LS line of speaker is being discontinued by Klipsch, so get these while you can.

Act now. Do not let this deal pass you by. For under two-hundred bucks for a pair (including S/H), you will not be sorry. I am already thrilled with the quality and sound of these speakers. And I am still in the recommended "breaking in period." I will update my review if needed once I can fully test their capabilities, but I can already tell these are an excellent value compared to speakers listed at 2 or 3 times the price. I had planned on buying a pair of Polk 50s as I owned an original set of Polk 10 Monitors back in the day. However, the Athena's have a ported 6.5 woofer, and reviews suggested the Polk's were a bit weak in the bottom end. And the Athena's are substantially cheaper when you figure in S/H.

You can't go wrong with Athena (except the AS series powered subs I heard had amp probs). Athena was consistently rated best speakers <$1,000. I have Athena F2's and the C1 center. These LS-300's are basically a slightly cheaper version of the old F1's. I use these as my front surround speakers and they are instantly warmer, richer sound than the Boston Acoustics they replaced, although slightly less efficient. VERY happy with my purchase, especially at these final inventory clearance prices. Just too bad Klipsch bought Athena to eliminate the competition.
