My Garmin 5212 chartplotter and radar had some issues. I was advised that I needed a heading sensor but the Garmin unit cost over $800. Fortunately, a Garmin rep told me about this unit which I purchase for less than a third of the Garmin cost. I had to learn some about the network standards but got it wired in and operating on the first try. Solved all the Garmin issues immediately. Highly recommended for the price. Note that neither Garmin nor KVH provided the needed network connection info, but I was able to figure it out. THe unit itself does not have an on-off switch so I wired that in also.
