Good flatware, my first real set.
By Vita
After 5 business days I received my package. Just opened it and I am very pleased. I paid $49.95, it seems the price has gone up since then (nov 17 09). When I opened them, I expected them to be shiny smooth steel. What the image doesn't show is that on the left side of the handles the steel has a rougher texture, like frosted glass (you can kind of see it in the image if you know what you are looking for) and a small grove before the texture difference. I like it actually. The knife is ridiculously sharp compared to any other set I've used; I'm actually worried I might cut myself with it. The salad fork is longer than I expected at 7 1/8" long. The regular fork is 8" The knife is 9 1/4" The table spoon is 7 3/8" and The tea spoon is 6 1/2" They are a little lighter in weight than I expected , but it's not a problem. I really like how they feel in my hand and are very strong/ unbendable. I'd say they have a good medium weight which I like because they don't feel oafy in your hand. They stack well in a drawer. The set comes with a sugar spoon, spreading type knife, serving fork, serving spoon and slotted serving spoon that all match and look great with the set.

Nice looking, but lesser quality than expected.
By I. Oshima
These are nice looking utensils. They are 18/10 stainless steel and Henckels so presumably do not stain like lesser quality ones. However, I've noted that they do show staining sometimes. I'm theorizing that these might have say... 9 percent nickel so not 10/8 anymore, but called 18/10?? * 18/0 would mean 18 percent chromium and 0 percent nickel * 18/8 indicates 18 percent chromium & 8 percent nickel * 18/10 indicates 18 percent chromium & 10 percent nickelThey are also much lighter (weight) and feel than I expected. My old set which were 18/10 and smaller in size were heftier per piece. Bought these to have a large and complete set and liked the style. Assumed that the 18/10 would mean a nice solid piece of metal.I still like these, but a little disappointed and next time will go to the store to get the touch and feel first before buying online.

Flatware Photographs Better Than It Looks In Person
By micdus
I'm disappointed in this flatware set. From the picture provided by Amazon it looks chic and classy, but in reality it looks cheap--like something you would find at Big Lots. It's fine for everyday use, which is what I bought it for, but you really do get what you pay for. I was looking for an affordable, yet elegant service for 8 set and it was definitely affordable, but at $54, it was "too good to be true" in terms of elegance. The next time I purchase flatware, I'll buy it in person so I can see what I'm really getting. If you just need flatware for very casual use that is not meant to impress, this will do.
