Good optical quality but very unstable mount. Fortunately, it is very portable so you can pick it up and walk around with it. I took some photos of the moon and venus. I have seen Jupiter and Saturn as well. I am not sure how to take other kinds of pictures, if there is an adapter for a digital camera. There may be some color filters that you can use with this also.

This is a great telescope to start with. There where a few things missing but when I called Meade customer service they got right on it and sent everything I needed. The first night up we saw inside the craters on the moon and the rings of Saturn.Dan

A good, reasonably priced telescope.
By Dave Patterson
The telescope arrived in good shape and was easy to assemble. Right off I found 3 design flaws. 1. Within 5 min. of the first use, the R.A. floppy hand crank broke off. Don't need it though as the crank wheel at the mount works better and dosen't get in the way. 2. The tube slides in the mount. I put some small stickey pads on the tube to stop that. 3. The finder scope is too dark to find any but the brightest of objects. A small scope with cross hairs would be better. On the plus side, the optics are really good, and the scope came already columnated. The mount works good, and I'll enjoy using the scope whenever the sky permits.
