5love it!
By Steve Lahr
A few years back I attended a woodworking show where this tool was demonstrated. The thing I like about the Gripper tool, is the overall safety the Gripper offers incomparison to how cheesy table saw guards truly are, & how unsafe push sticks can be.Let me explain:sometimes tablesaw guards get in the way & seem to do far more harm then good. How many times have you started running a board through the tablesaw &had the board get hung up on something & you come to find out it was hanging up on the guard, the "safety feature".(Nice safety hazard...umm, I mean "feature").The second aspect of it is.... When cutting skinny pieces on the table saw,in order to have a straight cut while using a push stick, you have to use the push stick with one hand &push with your opposite hand to keep the board tight against the fence, either thator you have to use a feather board to hold the workpiece against the fence.A couple of "pro's" in favor of the "Gripper" over featherboards/push sticks are:#1 - When using a push stick, worst case, your hand can slip into the blade if you're not careful.Push sticks are usually skinny & somewhat unstable. The Gripper is wide & a very stable tool.#2 - feather boards are alright, but cumbersome. The thing the "Gripper" offers over the feather board is, horizontal feather boards hold pressure on the workpiece(wood) holding it against the fence, but a horizontal featherboard cannot hold downward pressure. The only way you can hold the workpiece to the table is by using a vertical featherboard.Sometimes when using a vertical featherboard they get in the way.I personally dislike featherboards, if you can't tell.Another thing the gripper offers over the featherboard/push stick combination are....Have you ever tried to cut consistant skinny strips on the tablesaw, like 1/8" wide? That's hard to do, unless you have a Gripper, then it's easy. The tool is fully adjustable, & has a wonderful rubber grip on the bottom of the Gripper to maintain control of the workpiece at all times. This Gripper system is not only for the table saw, but can be used on router tables, bandsaws, & jointers too.Yes, it is made of plastic, a very high quality plastic too.Why plastic you ask?? Because if you accidentally set up the tool wrong, the blade will run in to plastic & not metal. Personally,I would view plastic as a much safer choice, don't you?So there is a method to their madness for making it out of plastic.I use the Grippers that I own all the time on all of my power tools that I mentioned above & I wouldn't ever trade them off.In fact, I love this safety tool so much, I have given them as gifts to a few of my friends to keep their fingers safe.Yes, you are right, they aren't exactly cheap price wise, but they are cheaper than a hospital bill to sew your fingers back on.Face it, if you work around power tools long enough, eventually an accident will happen. We are human, we are not perfect, & sometimes we have accidents. So why don't we make our shop as safe as we can for ourselves & if woodowrking is a hobby of yours,do as I did, make it a safe shop for your kids/nieces & nephews as well.Hope this helps, happy woodworking my friends!

5Get a Grip
By IChingUChing
I had an eye on this system for quite some time and was hesitating because of the expense. Worth every penny, wish I had purchased this sooner. I love the versatility, adaptability and adjustability of the gripper on the router table especially. I am more relaxed knowing my fingers are perfectly safe while I work. In the end, a whole lot less expensive than a trip to the emergency room. And the work is more precisely turned out. This tool is nicely designed and manufactured and better than anything else out there, in my opinion.

5Total control and SAFE!
By bizsavvy
I have owned my pair of GRRippers for a few years now. I rarely make a cut without them. I am a fairly novice woodworker. So, I have to admit when I first used the gripper, I was a little nervous. It is a huge change from the push blocks, hold downs, rollers, etc. But, I never really felt safe using those as well. I have a lot of friends who use the grripper and seen them use it a million times. So I know it works. Now that I have my own, I am glad I made the purchase. The grripper is a great buy for many reasons. In fact, I feel EVERYONE with a table saw should have a pair (or at least one).1. Because the grripper controls both sides of the stock, I am confident that the board will not walk away from the fence into the saw blade causing kickback, plus my hands are protected by the plastic body. (Which is very heavy duty)2. I have noticed before using the grripper that the keeper piece is not being held down against the fence tightly. So what happens is the keeper piece dances a little in between the saw blade and the fence causing burning and shoddy results.3. Also, the grripper works on SO MANY different machines. I use it on my table saw, shaper, jointer, and band saw. Which is why the DVD is so great! I couldn't believe how many different things you could do with it.Bottom line: I feel confident using the grripper. My woodworking and final projects have dramatically improved. I still have all ten fingers. Get 2 of them plus the DVD. Highly recommend it!
