For a speaker like the CI100QR in-ceiling 4-inch two-way Uni-Q with integrated back box, KEF believes that the quality of a speaker is no less important just because it's out of sight - in fact with ceiling-mounted units it can be more so. Designed to smoothly integrate and architecturally match with existing down lighting sharing the same size bezel KEF's trademark Uni-Q technology has a decisive performance advantage in these applications because each point source driver array evenly disperses the sound ensuring a smooth frequency response over a large area to create a spacious three-dimensional soundscape with genuine texture and depth. With a two-way 100-millimeter Uni-Q driver, the Ci100QR is as satisfyingly musical to hear as it is neat in appearance. As a latest addition to the KEF Uni-Q custom installation series, the Ci100QR is built for flush mounting into walls and ceilings. Providing a compact solution to the problem of hi-fi quality sound from an in-wall/ceiling speaker the Ci100QR consists of a polypropylene cone LF driver with the HF unit mounted at the acoustic centre of the LF unit. The bezel and grill can be painted to match the interior decor.

This was a tough purchase, i.e. just go by specifications and not actually hear them? I toiled on this for a couple weeks and decided to go with it. I'm running a Carver sub, NHT L/R/C and the KEF's in the back channels. With my THX 4,000 watt home theater system these speakers not only sound good, they can keep up even with their short size. They sound great with music or movie's. Clean and crisp and with such realism I sometimes have to rewind just to prove I heard something in the background. Very easy to install, although somewhat confusing, i.e. I made a Styrofoam cutout first, installed it, just to see how the thing fixes inside the wall (very cleaver). Wish the cone, however, was black. Still give them a five star.
