yes, these strings are REALLY expensive. However they are worth their weight in gold. I currently have them on a Lewis Klingel model bass with a carved top. Not a great bass. I had previously been using spirocores on this bass and it was very "tinny and cold" sound. The Dominants made this bass come alive. They are extremely warm. They have a softer touch than the spirocores. I know that different basses respond differently do differen strings, but mine LOVES the dominant strings. Oh, shortened life is definately an issue. My previous set of dominants ended up with a mysteriously broken E string. I picked up the bass one day and the E string was broken at the nut. This was after about a year of use.
