TSN-661 is an excellent scope!
By Desert Dave
I have had a TSN-661 for three years. It has been excellent and easy to use. My shooting buddy, who has an 82 mm Kowa, and I have compared my 661 with his scope at the range at various distances from 200 meters to 1000 yards. The two scope resolve equally well and, in daylight, seem to be almost equally bright. I can see no reason to lug around the bigger scope. My 661 easily resolves .22 caliber holes at 200 meters and, on a good day, at 300. On a bright, calm day, the scope will resolve .30 caliber holes at 400 meters, but conditions have to be very good for this to happen. The scope is very easy to use and the optional cover makes for easy deployment and packing for travel.I have the 25 X long eye relief eyepiece on my 661 and it works well, with edge to edge sharpness of the image.I am so glad I got this scope and was amazed to see the low price that Amazon is offering it for. Again, let me say that I feel I've given up nothing in performance by selecting the 66 mm Kowa over the 82 mm model. And, I've gained a lot in portability and convenience.

Agree with first review.

This is a spectacular scope, as described in the other review. The 25x long eye relief eyepiece described above is ideal for high-power shooting, but I intend to eventually get the 20 - 60x zoom eventually for general use. As for bullet hole resolution, it is very light and condition dependent. I shoot at about 8000 feet up in the mountains and there is very little Mirage and usually no haze. I can see 30 caliber bullet holes in the white at 600 yards with the 25x sometimes, but it can be challenging to see 30 caliber holes in the black at 200 yards late in the day if the targets are backlit. The numbers and scoring rings are easily read at any distance. I have also had days shooting in Arizona with heavy mirage where it was difficult to see 30 caliber bullet holes at 200 yards, but I do not think any scope can power through heavy mirage. I had shooters with Zeiss and Swarovski scopes who get quite upset that this relatively inexpensive (for high-end spotting scope) Japanese scope gives the same or better image quality.More important then bullet hole resolution for highpower competition is seeing the mirage to call the wind. Mirage is very easy to see in the scope, much better than in my 50 mm Kowa or the range loaner scopes.Be aware, you order the eyepieces separately, so the price above is only for the scope body.Creedmoor Sports makes nice custom soft cases in various colors and various kinds of camo if you don't like the Kowa case.
