Patented design allows for chasing spark plug threads from inside the cylinder head and working outward. The tool uses the better threads at the base of the spark plug port and greatly reduces the chance of debris from falling into the cylinder. Works on 14mm spark plug threads.  Length of 6" allows for deep well plugs. Tool can be used with 1/2" socket or wrench.

Bought this re-threader after buying a car and finding that spark plug No 4 had been cross threaded by previous owner.Restored it perfectly. Saved the head. Saved my day. Saved a lot of $.

Back Tap saved my you know what

I found this product easy to use. It worked exactly as advertised. I made three passes through a damaged spark plug thread with the head on the car. I put a little grease on the tap, particularly in the area where the chips go so as to keep them from falling down into the cylinder head. This plus the concept of tapping from the bottom up worked really well for me. Obviously you wouldn't spend the extra dollars for this item over a regular tap if you weren't working with the head on the engine. I highly recommend this product to anyone attempting to repair damaged spark plug threads without disassembling the cylinder head.

It works!

This tool saved me from removing a head on a 225 3.0 optimax. I had to figure out that the tool could not be fully expanded once in the hole to get started on the threads in the back. Once I got the tool started I could expand it more to get it tight and it cleaned the threads enough to get the spark plug in and get the job done. It worked for me.I will not give it 5 stars because I would not have expected it to not thread when fully expanded and I wish it was just a little longer. Overall a good sturdy tool.
