Dakota Alert VS-125 Hard-Wired Vehicle Sensor w/ 125' Wire Product Description:

  • Hardwired Vehicle Sensor with 125' of Wire
  • DAKOTA ALERT

Product Description

CABLE LENGTH IS 125 FT. The hard wired vehicle sensor lets you know any time a vehicle enters or leaves the driveway. The probe of the vehicle sensor detects metal objects, such as moving cars, in a ten to twelve foot radius of the sensor. The vehicle sensor probe should be buried parallel to or under the driveway. Then the direct burial wire is run back to the control box that is located in the house. The probe will detect vehicles moving by and send a signal through the line to the control box, which will sound a whistle. The probe and wire can easily be buried in turf with a shovel or a lawn edger. If the probe is to be buried in the middle of the drive, it is best to have the probe and wire in a conduit to protect it from any damage caused by heavy vehicles. If there are gophers, moles, etc., in the area, it would be best to have the entire length of wire in a conduit. The control box simply plugs into a 110-volt outlet, and has an on/off switch on the top of the box. There is a set of contacts to connect the two wires from the probe, as well as a set of 12-volt DC (500mA max) contacts. The voltage output can be used to operate sirens, bells, or a light timer. Everything is color coded and labeled for easy reference. The whistle and the voltage output are adjustable for 2, 4 or 8 seconds. The control box can run up to three probes, and has a sensitivity control so that it can be custom tuned to each application.

5Works Great!
By cBurgessc
I had a need to replace an AutoAlert driveway alarm. I read review after review trying to find something similar with a good rating. Dakota had several products but this came closest to my needs and had decent reviews so I gave it a shot. I was not disappointed.Installation couldn't be easier and it's been working flawlessly for the past several months through hot, cold, dry and wet weather. Because some contractors (Kabletown) had previously cut my old AutoAlert probe wire I buried the Dakota's probe wire in a 1/4" PVC conduit about 1' underground. The probe itself is about 10'-15' from the road and has never given a false warning. Truthfully, it never has given a false warning with a vehicle but if you happen to bump the "black box" on the wall it may set the unit off. This unit also has 12v contacts inside (and outside) that are momentarily turned on when the alarm goes off so you can hook up other bells, whistles or warning devices. I was easily able to attach my old AutoAlert wireless chime (This unit does not come with a wireless chime option - almost a reason to drop a star, almost) to the inside contacts so along with it's own, loud, buzzer I can reuse my wireless chime up in my office! The product did exactly what it's supposed to do, works great, was easy to install myself and you can hook up other alert devices if needed. I would highly recommend this device to others.

4Really Pleased
By Mario
I've installed this about a year ago for a customer. It was easy to installed and worked really well at detecting moving objets. I have set up the system to sound an alarm whenever a moving metal object is detected.Everything was hard wire. The only complaint i had was that it was really affected by static. Besides that it works pretty good. This is a really neat alert if you want some security for your house and driveway.

5INCORRECT PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
By tjenkins
Thanks a lot for giving me incorect product information! I really needed that little bit of extra hassle in life. The WPT-3000 I was sent clearly does not work like the decription states. Mine clearly has no plug-in power supply. I have a 9v battery clip. This is NOT what I wanted. Also I see no way to possibly hook up relay contacts on this model. I believe the description SHOULD HAVE STATED that the RECEIVER CONTROL BOX (purchased SEPERATELY)inside the house has the relays and 120 volt power supply plug. Now I have the hassle of modifying or returning this model, like I said, thanks so much! Why does Amozon let anyone link anyproduct to any listing description?
