this is an EXCELLENT product ,..quality all the way through , comes with everything except the battery and the fluid , easy assembly , may need 2 people to set the ram / slide to the trailer ,but i managed by myself pulls great behind a 4 wheeler ,.. but the MOST IMPORTANT thing is it STARTS in COLD WEATHER

This machine is a powerhouse! Didn't need the electric start feature (for the extra $150 bucks plus a battery), so bought the pull start. Assembled the machine using the the operator's manual - WRONG. There's a single paged instruction sheet with more detail than the manual which, of course, I didn't discover until I was finished. If you're at all handy you can figure things out.As far as the machine goes, it's a bear! It effortlessly splits the ugliest pieces; those that would take a great deal of effort, patience and fortitude with an eight pound maul and wedges. I can honestly say that, having used the vertical split feature on unseasoned red and white oak, maple and cherry, I would never consider a machine without it. I found one of these used but still on the pallet unassembled, without electric start. Plus these things have a clutch that disengages the hydraulic pump, so pull starting is extremely easy.I'm a good sized guy that likes to lift and can assure you assembly is a two-man job and the instructions are definitely less than clear. Putting that aside this thing is a monster! I used it to split about 8 cord last season and it split everything I've thrown at it with ease (like even knurly twisted green trunk stumps over 30" diameter), and given the lower price point relative to other professional level machines, the cycle time on the ram isn't horrible either. Obviously if you want to spend 5 or 6 grand on a Timberwolf, you'll get a better machine but that's a lot of dough.My only two complaints on this machine are; 1) the ram doesn't slid inside a form fitted protective cover on retraction to assist with removing jammed wood on the ram so just be prepared with a sledge to knock them off when you really get into the knurled stuff. 2) the gas tank is kinda small for a 12.5 horse so if you are splitting for a long period of time you'll need to refill a few times.Here again those two items are far outweighed by the value, power, and quality. Definitely 5 stars.
