I was pleasantly surprised how nice this fixture is! It is very high quality. It works perfectly, even on our ancient dimmer. The finish looks black from any distance but, upon very close inspection, is actually a VERY dark brown. I guess they call this a "oil rubbed bronze" effect. I find this to be a perfect happy-medium between my modern and my husbands traditional tastes. My only complaint is that the gorgeous bowls are a bit shallow - so the large CFL bulbs I'd like to use in it are not appropriate because the top peeks out unattractively. So, for now, I have energy-guzzling incandescent bulbs in it and I'm hoping to find reasonably priced (dimmable) CFLs with a smaller profile soon.
