Among The Best
By Stephen W. Templar
This is among the best knives ever to come out of Taiwan. Like the Junglee Baby Hattori,Junglee Baby Hattori Survival Knife, this knife is of good quality materials and is constructed very well. Fit and finish are as good as they need to be; this is not an art piece. The sheath leaves quite a bit to be desired, but then how many of us ever use the sheath that comes with the knife. With this one I am paying for a good knife, not the sheath. The part of this knife that really counts is the blade; that is Japanese made AUS-8 (8A) steel from Aichi Steel Corporation, just like the originals. And, it's cryo treated. (note: some very early Trident blades were 440C steel)The handle material is strong sturdy and very lovely black Micarta. The Trident is the only SOG Vietnam Era knife that comes with Micarta. All of the others are stacked leather or worse. As an all purpose knife with great fighting/defensive characteristics the SOG Trident continues to be a great choice.

Sog trident knife/sheath combo
By derek b
I did a youtube review of this knife, Ithink I'm the only one. The pros are1 Ireally like this design of knife and id rate the trident at the top of the three I own (boker safari avoid, cold steel uwk discontinued)2 the blade steel aus8 is much better than the 440 boker uses in the safari joke3 the handle and hardware are finished very well. I had to sand the grooves to make them more comfortable.4 the sheath is pretty. Looks nice, comes with a stone. The strap is on the correct side so it doesn't get cut when u pull it out.5 very thick blade. But cuts good. I've used it on chicken, cardboard, wood. Plastic, ect6 can be re finished with a 10 dollar scotch brite wheel (fine) and a drill press so no matter how scratched, can be new again by sunset.Cons1 the sheath had a couple unstiched holes, kinda sloppy for a classy fixed blade2 the tip bent when pried, but its a clip point. It went straight fine.3 the strap is too lose to hold the knife in perfectly. Ok, but, you can pull it out without unuttoning it if u try.4 it has poor grip with smooth handles, but that is to my preferance, but probably not yours :p5 a poor chopper for its weight. Not terrible just not exactly dominatory.
