I bought this to upgrade my kids' LGA775 systems. They went from Celeron-D 1.86GHz to this. I tried a Core-2 Quad 2.66GHz, but it ran hotter, more watts, and didn't give any additional performance. Most of their needs (games, programming) rely on a small number of threads running at higher speed.That's where this CPU comes into play. For systems that top out in the Core2 6000 series, this has the highest clock speed, and a favorable thermal/power profile. This will run MechWarrior Online fairly well. It does great for DNLP transcoding. It's good for running a mid-sized minecraft server AND playing the game on the same system.Overall, I bought three of these and it extended the life of our existing systems for at least another year or two.

This is a replacement processor for my primary computer, it is older, but by far very effective and I am very happy with it
