be careful
By terry gundlach
I just got my two new Little Giants, one for manual operation and one for automatic operation. I get groundwater that threatens coming into my house when it gets to be a few inches deep. I purchased this automatic pump/switch combo because the info on the Little Giant manufacturer's site makes it look like it will pump down to 3/8 inches or so--NOT TRUE!!! With the auto switch on it won't kick in at all until the water is 3-5 inches deep. Be forewarned based on your specific needs. When in manual modes the pumps work great, spilling a 3/4" garden hose-sized stream of water that shoots out 2 feet or more.Terry GundlachNewport Beach, CA

Good product, good price
By Daniel L. Fritts
I purchased this because I have a walk-up basement (enclosed) and the well kept filling up in very heavy rains and flooding my basement. Although it works great and just like advertised the default position for the automatic start is about 0.5" too high for my problem, I had to jury-rig it to get it to work. An adjustable sensor would have been great.Great price and good quality for a self-contained sump pump "almost" at floor level, highly recommended.

Successful initial test
By Raine Surmonter
After receiving my pump I set it up and flooded the area around it with water. It turned on automatically and pumped the water without incident. My test involved pumping the water 5 ft vertically and 25 ft horizontally. There was a decent amount of water pressure coming out the other end of the hose. I haven't experienced a storm yet, but based on my test I'm confident it will work as advertised.I've read that diaphragm switches like the one on this pump are more reliable than float switches and this is one of the smallest pumps I could find with a diaphragm switch. The switch has a separate AC plug than the pump. The pump AC plug piggybacks the switch AC plug in a single outlet. The pump can be set to run continuously by bypassing the switch and plugging the pump AC plug directly into the outlet.
